Revenge of the long haired chiuaua

Standard

I can’t believe how long it’s been since I’ve blogged. I miss it. I find blogging theraputic, it lets me sort out my emotions, helps me form opinions and lets me get feedback from friends on what I’m feeling and opinionating. But the truth of the matter is, when you blogging is part of both your jobs, its a little hard to stay motivated and keep up with my personal blog. But I really want to get back into it, so here it goes.

The biggest life development since my last blog post is that Joe and I got a dog! Her name is Layla and we rescued her from the Orange County Animal Shelter. Most people who read this blog have already met Layla so I’m not going to spend a bunch of time describing her, but she is part long hair chiuaua and part something else. She is 4 years old and a total sweeth heart.  Most of the time.

Last night we decided to start kennel training her. At first things went really well. We put her bed in there and put it in our bedroom. When it was bed time she went right in and settled down for the night. SWEET! We thought maybe she had been kennel trained by her previous owners. However, that was not the case. Because at 2:30am she decided it was time to get out. She starts barking and whining. We’ve read a bunch of books so we knew that it was important to let her whine it out. But because it was 2:30am we totally forgot about all the training and just let her out. She had slept the outside a kennel for the past two months, so what was one more night. Well, apparently she was offended that we tried to cage her and proceeded to get in the trash and leave a giant mess for us in the morning.

Fantastic.

I am an Orange County native who is closer to 30 than 20, prefers comedies to dramas, loves healthy food and crap food equally and believes bad days can be cured with a walk on the beach. Mother to a very smart, funny, energetic and opinionated blue eyed toddler. Nanny to a teen who is athletic, sarcastic, intelligent and always looking out for the underdog. Wife to a man who serves his family selflessly, is incredibly handy and an amazing cook. We have four rules in our home: love God, love each other, eat In N Out and always cheer for the Angels.
